10th January 2012 - HEA focus on professionalisation of teaching continues in four-year strategic plan

The HEA has launched its vision for the next four years, emphasising its role as the national voice for learning and teaching enhancement in higher education.

Professor Craig Mahoney, Chief Executive of the HEA, said:

“The Strategic Plan is a clear statement of our intent. It explains how the HEA will establish its purpose and priorities in enhancing learning and teaching, and sets out how we will deliver our support to higher education institutions in offering the very best learning experience through outstanding teaching.”

Strategic priorities over the next four years include:

• to inspire and support effective practice in learning and teaching;
• to recognise, reward and accredit excellent teaching;
• to influence policy, future thinking and change;
• to develop an effective, sustainable organisation that is relevant to, and valued by, higher education.

The new Strategic Plan has been launched under the banner of the HEA’s refreshed visual identity, which more accurately portrays the energy and commitment the organisation offers in supporting and enhancing the quality and impact of learning and teaching for students in higher education.
